Treca Deshields has a huge heart for her community. in 1990 she started a youth ministry called Save Our Youth in Clinton South Carolina. The organization helped keep youth off the street by enriching their lives with positive weekly activities. Save Our Youth continues to serve hundreds of youths and families in the Clinton area.

Treca later opened the first African American daycare facility in Clinton, serving low income and under privileged youth by providing quality childcare, after school and summer camps at low or no cost.

In 2018 Treca founded the Zone Services that provides innovative services and resources for families in the Upstate through outreach, mentoring, summer programs and more.

The Zone partners with other entities in the community to provide more effective services and build natural support systems with programs and events, such as Target 111, an emergency food bank, C.O.R.E, Youth Summits and Holiday Give-a-ways across the Upstate.

Treca is also a minister, songstress, motivational speaker, therapeutic support specialist, Certified Mental Health First Aid and Triple P Facilitator. She is also the author of “Note to Self, the Authentic Me, My Journey Journal of Validation”.

Treca Deshields wears many hats and being an Upstate Black History Maker is one of them.
