The honorable Judge Jackie Williams is a glass ceiling breaker indeed. She is the City of Laurens first full-time municipal court judge. A former Laurens Police Officer and school resource officer, Williams received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Lander and her masters from Anderson University, with the goal of becoming a judge in mind. Judge Williams has proven herself to be fair and impartial in the community and has the respect of community members and police officers. Before Williams was seated as a judge, she was a Sergeant with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and Laurens City Police. She has served on the board of several organizations like Safe Home, Straight Street and Amikids. Judge Williams has also been positioned as Deputy Coroner and Code Enforcement for Laurens City Building and Zoning. Williams has said in interviews that fairness is at the heart of who she was as a police officer and who she is and will be as a judge moving forward. Being the first full-time Municipal Court Judge in Laurens County makes the honorable Judge Jackie Williams a 107-3 JAMZ Upstate Black History Maker.
